SANDY SPRINGS. More than just a brewpub, 5 Seasons is a destination for awesome microbrews, an inventive menu and constant conviviality. The warm, inviting space issues an irresistible call, and patrons give heed, eager to sample the signature Seven Sisters Münchner, a Vienna-style lager, not to mention a variety of tasty ales, porters, stouts and more. At lunch, they make terrific companions to luscious burgers, sandwiches, mussels, fish and chips, and grilled salmon. At dinner, a selection of small plates caters to nibblers and groups, while individual entrees include lamb tenderloin, poussin, Niman Ranch pork chop and grilled ravioli.

MIDTOWN. This popular restaurant revels in kitsch ­ yes, the lunch boxes, board games and Barbie-related collectibles are authentic ­ and serves delicious Southern fare. How does a Sunday brunch of salmon croquettes, Cajun-fried okra and fried green tomatoes sound? Other down-home favorites include mac-n-cheese fritters, BBQ shrimp served over creamy grits, turkey meatloaf and buttermilk fried chicken. Of course, one of their spicy Bloody Marys is a must. And, oh yes, be sure to save room for a slice of carrot cake ... theirs may just be the best in town. Note: call ahead seating only.

BUCKHEAD. Distinguished by its stained-glass dome and pleasing blue walls, this delightful restaurant is a tried-and-true favorite for delicious Italian fare. Undeniably good, the menu tempts with vibrant flavors, as seen in pan-seared scallops with citrus sauce, grilled lamb chops with dill sauce, pan-seared duck breast with parmesan risotto, and sautéed trout meunière. Purists also adore the paella, chockful of chicken, seafood, and chorizo. Adjacent to the dining room is a gourmet take-out branch of the business.

VIRGINIA HIGHLAND. Alon's lunches are great for one main reason: the sublime, fresh-baked bread. Challah, Country French, rye and croissants are done to perfection. Top these with creative mixtures of fresh vegetables, flavorful cheeses and hearty meats, and you have a sandwich that's nothing short of unforgettable. If you love to browse tray after tray of bakery-fresh desserts ­ and who doesn't! ­ then don't skip theirs. From tender scones to some of the most addictive cookies in Atlanta, you'll find it all here. Try a tangy lemon square or a big piece of raspberry white-chocolate cheesecake, and don't forget a fragrant cup of coffee to go with your selection. Wine is not served, but you may buy a bottle in the store to take home.

Set in a voluminous, warehouse-like space, this restaurant warms its interior with a tile mosaic and local art. Its cuisine couples the rustic flavors of the American Southwest and the Mediterranean to great effect. Smoky, earthy undertones thread their way through the host of entrees, which include grilled pork tenderloin, gourmet pizzas, a tuna tostada with cactus slaw, and Navajo fry bread. Vegetarian options are available, along with a full bar. Kids are also welcome, although their taste buds will certainly get a flavor kick not known to typical pizzas and burritos.
